Obituary of Corene Caroline Meier

Corene Caroline Meier Funeral Services for Corene Caroline Meier of Winfield, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe, MO. Rev. Michael Kasevich, church pastor, will officiate with burial in St. Paul U.C.C. Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Bash, Gerald Hackmann, James Schaeffer, Jerry Gifford, Kenneth Goos and Jerry Meier. Mrs. Meier, 95, passed away early Thursday morning, August 30, 2012 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born September 18, 1916 in Hermann, MO, she was the daughter of Edwin and Mina Lingenfelder Mueller. She worked as a Practical Nurse in operating rooms for several years. She was united in marriage on October 20, 1952 in Herman to Raymond Herman Meier. This union was blessed with two children: Carolyn and Raymond. She then worked for many years as a dairy farmer alongside her husband. She was also a housewife. Mrs. Meier volunteered at WinCo Senior Center and the Lincoln County Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Paul U.C.C. Church where she was active in Sunday School, women's groups, bible studies and the visiting committee. She was an avid baseball fan and paid close attention to the St. Louis Cardinals statistics; particularly following Yadier Molina. She also had a love for quilting and her cat, Mutsy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mina Mueller; one son, Raymond William Meier in 1981; two sisters: Ella King and Stella Cannon; two brothers: Orval Mueller and Edwin Mueller; and her beloved husband of 22 years, Raymond Meier on March 3, 1975. Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Meier of Winfield; two sisters: Janet Mueller and Hazel Mueller, both of Hermann; and her loving cat, Mutsy. She also leaves one daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Freymuth of Palmyra, MO; two sisters-in-law: Lu Meier and Adela Mueller; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
