Obituary of Hattie Helen Collins

Hattie Helen Collins Funeral Services for Hattie Helen Collins of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Raymond Doussard, chaplain for Celtic Hospice will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Collins, Bryan Collins, Tyler Collins, Danny Kinsler, Dean Kinsler and Donnie Kinsler. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Horton, Van Vaught, Pete Kinsler and Ronnie Vaughn, Jr. Mrs. Collins, 91, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2014 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born October 16, 1923 in Blackwater, VA, she was the daughter of Charles and Virgia Miner Kinsler, Sr. She was united in marriage on February 23, 1944 in Kingsport, TN to LeRoy Collins, Jr. This union was blessed with two sons: Arlin Darrell and Billy Lee. Hattie was a member of Star Hope Baptist Church. She was a member of Gold Star Mothers Chapter #1 in St. Louis, MO. Hattie organized trips for the OATS Bus and was a member of the Wednesday Women's Bowling League in O'Fallon, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Virgia Kinsler, Sr.; six brothers: Andy Kinsler, Hugh Kinsler, Abe Kinsler, Charles Kinsler, Jr., Quincy Kinsler and Buster Kinsler; two sisters: Ellen Elizabeth Kinsler as an infant and Ruth Vaught; one son, Arlin Darrell Collins who died during the Vietnam War on August 29, 1968; and her beloved husband 34 years, LeRoy Collins, Jr. who died March 3, 1980. Survivors include one son, Billy Lee Collins and his wife, Carol, of Elsberry; and two grandsons: Ryan Darrell Collins and his wife, Dana, of Platte City, MO and Bryan Lee Collins and his wife, Melissa, of Elsberry. She also leaves two great-grandchildren: Rylie Nicole Collins and Darrell Tyler Collins; one sister, Georgia Horton of Willington, N.C.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
