Obituary of Ernest E. Robinson
Ernest Eugene "Gene" Robinson
Funeral services for Ernest Eugene "Gene" Robinson of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Tom Schofield, pastor of Elsberry First Christian church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Robinson, Dustin Robinson, Trent Crenshaw, Nick Robinson, Alex Robinson, Adam Robinson, John Briggs, and Leslie Lonsberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Underwood, Floyd Ellison, Sam Signorello, Jim Henry, Sonny Taylor, and Don Slaughter.
Mr. Robinson, 80, passed away Thursday evening, February 11, 2010 at his home in Elsberry. Born October 25, 1929 in Lincoln County, MO he was the son of James Charles and Mildred Dunham Parks Robinson. He served his country in the United States Army from January 21, 1947 until July 16, 1948, and again from October 6, 1950 until he was honorably discharged on November 10, 1951. He was united in marriage on December 2, 1950 to Beverly Gevock. This union was blessed with two children: Peggy and James. He worked as a mechanic for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing until retiring January 31, 1986. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local #8373, and a charter member of the Elsberry Saddle Club. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Robinson, and one brother-in-law, Gene Lonsberry.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Beverly Robinson of Elsberry; one son, James C. Robinson, and his friend, John Briggs, of Tempe, AZ; one daughter, Peggy Talbot and her husband, Mike, of Elsberry; one granddaughter, Corey Trevino and her husband, Abel, of Elsberry; one great-grandson, Cale Mackey; one sister, Florence Lonsberry of Elsberry; one aunt, Martha Vaughn of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Elsberry First Christian Church or Heartland Hospice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
