Obituary of Bruce L. Cannon

Bruce Lynn Cannon Funeral Services for Bruce Lynn Cannon of Winfield, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield, and Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the Winfield Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Behle, Don Beretta, Jeremy Colbert, John Colbert, Jimmy Colbert, Jim Toebben, Lonnie Cannon and Mike Stout. Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Cannon and Brady Cannon. Mr. Cannon, 53, died late Wednesday evening, November 5, 2008 as the result of a car accident in northern St. Charles County near Old Monroe, MO. Born August 8, 1955 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Walter Edmond "Tooter" and Hazel Marie Nichols Cannon. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1973, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in History Education and Photography from Greenville College in Greenville, IL in 1977. He received his Masters in Education Degree in 1981 from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO. Mr. Cannon taught History at Winfield High School and later Fort Zumwalt High School in St. Charles. Following his love of photography, he started his business, Cannon Photography in Troy, MO in 1982. He was a member of the Professional Photographers of America. He was united in marriage on November 2, 1985 in Hawk Point, MO to Princess Gale Colbert. This union was blessed with two children: Brittany Marie and Taylor Duwayne. He was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church in Winfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. "Tooter" Cannon on February 28, 1961; and his father-in-law, Clifford Colbert. Survivors include his beloved wife of 23 years, Princess Cannon of Winfield; their daughter, Brittany Cannon-Fravell and her husband, Shannon, of Winfield; their son, Taylor Cannon of Winfield; and his mother, Hazel Cannon of Moscow Mills, MO. He also leaves one brother, Dennis Lee Cannon and his wife, Barb, of Grand Blanc, MI; his two nephews: Brock and Brady Cannon of Grand Blanc, MI, his mother-in-law, Ella Margaret Colbert of Hawk Point, MO; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held after 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
