Lillian, I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Chaney's passing. Dave and I were in Alaska when I got word. You and he were always very special to me. I'll never forget him asking me if I was 'expecting' the day I was interviewed for my job at Hillsboro, (it was the style of dresses back then). I hope God grants you peace and comfort.
Sincerely,
Anne Birkenmeier

Louis was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known. He embodied the principles of the Christian religion he believed in so truly and was a real inspiration to those of us who had the privilege of knowing him. His knowledge, humor and wit made him a delight to be around, and his obvious love for Lillian was a delight to see. I will miss him in our Sunday School class, but I know he is with his Lord now.

Our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Chaney, the boys and their families. He was a mentor to me as a school administrator and a great example as a person. I certainly enjoyed our out of schools conversations about baseball and Puxico basketball. After retirement I asked how he enjoyed his life and he said "Chuck, the toughest decisions I have to make now are.... Do I hit a nine iron or wedge?"
He will be missed
