I just learned of Kevin's passing away. I was lucky enough to work with him on a project involving automated drillers on the 787 program. He was masterful in taking the output of machine data and making it useful for controlling processes and aiding inspections. Kevin was brilliant in that solutions were elegant: robust, simple, easy to understand and use. Most importantly, Kevin was a pleasure to work with. He had a wry sense of humor. He always took time to listen and understand. We should all aspire to be as good and generous and thoughtful as Kevin. I am sorry for Kevin's loss to his family, friends, relatives and his many coworkers at Boeing and equipment suppliers.

I started working with Kevin approximately 25 years ago when I had installed a large automated machine that was no longer being supported by the supplier. In just a few months, Kevin re-placed the main computer system with his RACC software and that machine is still working today and building airplane wings. RACC stands for Robotic Assembly Cell Control and it is a product that Kevin developed and turned it into a standard machine interface. Kevin was so resourceful in figuring out what to do in every situation to solve complex technical problems. He was always on a mission to complete his work in a shortest time and with that he was working endless hours to make it happen. The last time I communicated with Kevin was about a year ago when I inquired about the status of his RACC system. I was amazed with the amount of work he had accomplished and his high level of contributions to the Boeing Company. I am very saddened for losing Kevin. He was a treasure and it was shocking for me to hear the news. I hope these words represent the sentiment we all have about such a great person and his memories will always be with us. I would like to pass my condolences to Kevin's family and wish them the best in these difficult times.

I have been lucky enough to work with Kevin through out my entire career at Boeing. Since I started 25 years ago our group has seen many changes over the years until it eventually became Kevin, Ernst, and myself keeping a little project called RACC going. Kevin was a friend, teacher, and just a wealth of knowledge that will be impossible to replace. I could be in Seattle starting up a new machine at 9:30pm and he would answer my call and help for as long as it took to get the machine running. Any help you needed at anytime he would be there. It's hard to believe we can't just send him a quick email for an answer to an issue. A truly good person was lost too soon. Rest in peace Kevin we will do our best to carry on the legacy you left at Boeing.

Kevin has been my mentor from my very first day at Boeing more than 25 years ago. Since then I must have asked him a billion questions. Yet he always took the time to answer those questions and give me direction. His work ethic was contagious, his drive for perfection was inspiring, his kindness was amazing, and his friendship meant the world to me. I miss him so much. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I first met Kevin when I interviewed with Boeing. He was one of the reasons I took the job: brilliant, pragmatic, and a vision for industrial robotics 20 years ahead of his time. It's been my privilege to call him a mentor, a colleague, and a friend the last 25 years. You will be missed.

I started working with Kevin when I began supporting the V-22 Program's automation in Philadelphia 4 years ago. I admired him not only for his vast knowledge and ability to seemingly always know what to do, but also for the way he always took the time to help when I needed it and his willingness to educate me. He was such an amazing and kind person and I will miss him greatly. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Kevin taught me much about what I know about managing a software engineering project from inception through sustainment. He will be sorely missed. He trained, educated and enabled so many young engineers at Boeing. He personally brought state of the art robotic systems to the shop floor for C17, F18, 787, 737, F15 and many proprietary programs. Kevin was a true visionary and technical leader at the Boeing Company. He was also very humble. I remember he had to be "drug" into the Technical Fellowship and faced a lot of leadership challenges. He exhibited a great spirit of innovation and strong work ethic. He was an example to us all.
