Obituary of Wayne Kendall Ray

Funeral Services for Wayne Kendall Ray of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2019, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Richard Ray will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry.  Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Dartt, Casey Morris, Patrick Burkemper, Jared Stone, David Ray, Chris Fuller, Evan Fuller and Josh Hausgen.


Mr. Ray, 68, passed away Monday morning, December 2, 2019, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  Born March 30, 1951, in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Earl “Jumbo” and Hazel Irene Ray.  Wayne was a 1969 graduate of Elsberry High School.  Later, Wayne attended the Missouri Highway Patrol Peace Officer’s Academy and The St. Louis County X-Ray Technician School.  He worked as armed security for Boeing, retiring in 2014 after 25 years of employment.  Wayne was an avid fisherman and enjoyed coin collecting, hunting and woodworking.


Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Jumbo and Hazel Ray and one brother, Dale Ray.


Survivors include his son, Jarred Ray and his wife, Michelle, of St. Peters, MO and two grandchildren, Ethan and Olivia Ray.  Wayne also leaves one brother, Richard Ray and his wife, Brenda, of New London, MO; his niece and nephews: Mark Ray, Tim Ray, Leslie Fuller and her husband, Chris, and David Ray and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, (or) Shriners Hospital for Children in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
