Obituary of Eldie George Palmer, Jr.

Funeral Services for Eldie George Palmer, Jr. of Vandalia, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO.  Pastor Dillon Busby of Vandalia, MO, will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry.  Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Riechard, Rodney Smith, Richard Rennecker, Jr., Dolon Colbert, Chris Bontz and Ryan Smith.

Mr. Palmer, 65, passed away Monday afternoon, July 22, 2019 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.  Born June 2, 1954 in Troy, MO he was the son of Eldie George and Dollie Joannis Ellis Palmer Sr.  Eldie worked as an over the road truck driver and a mechanic.  He loved to work on cars and lawnmowers.

Eldie was preceded in death by his father, Eldie Palmer, Sr.; and one brother, Charles Palmer.

Survivors include his wife April Palmer of Clarksville, OH; his children: Theresa Pagett and her fiance, Roger Lucas, of Hillsboro, OH, Crystal Burts of Mexico, MO, Jamie Smith and her husband, Rodney, of Curryville, MO, Stacey Barrett of Greenfield, OH, Dusty Palmer of Lynchburg, OH and Andrew Everhart of Washington Court House, OH; and ten grandchildren: Amanda, Bradon, Cassandra, Jason, Justin, Skyler, Rachel, Sadie, Nathan and Kayla.  Eldie also leaves his mother, Dollie Mercer of Foley; one brother, William “Walt” Palmer of Hannibal; three sisters: Clara Jo Johnson of St. Peters, MO, Rosalie Gomila of St. Charles, MO and January Mercer of Foley; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to the Family of Eldie Palmer for final expenses in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
