Obituary of Carolyn Sue Cannon

Funeral Services for Carolyn Sue Cannon of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Foley Baptist Church in Foley, MO.  Rev. Dave Meers will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery in Winfield, MO.  Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Hines, Charles Lowell, John Lowell, Dan Gorski, Caleb Tiller, Sam Runge and Billy Baragiola.

Mrs. Cannon, 74, passed away Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Creve Coeur, MO after a three week battle with a respiratory illness.  Born December 31, 1943 in Bollinger County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Tony and Mildred B. Graham Green.  Carolyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1965 and later in 1973 earned her Master’s Degree from Southeast Missouri State University.  Carolyn was united in marriage on February 21, 1976 in Winfield to Andrew James “Jimmy” Cannon.   She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Winfield R-4 School District, retiring in 1995.  Carolyn was a long time and current leader for the Winfield-Foley Fireflies 4-H Chapter.  She attended Foley Baptist Church.  She loved to travel, especially to any destination to explore her love of scuba diving.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Mildred Green; one brother, Jim Green; and her beloved husband, Jimmy Cannon, who died November 27, 2006.

Survivors include her stepchildren: Alonzo James “Lonnie” Cannon of Winfield and Brenda Lowell of Old Monroe, MO;  seven step-grandchildren: Carl Hines and his wife, Jennifer, Abby Gorski and her husband, Dan, Anna Tiller and her husband, Caleb, Charles Lowell and his wife, Addi, John Lowell, Jenny Runge and her husband, Sam, and Samantha Cannon; and eleven step-great-grandchildren.  Carolyn also leaves two brothers: Ben Green of Montana and Bill Green of Southern Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Foley Baptist Church.  Memorials may be made to the Wnfield-Foley Fireflies 4-H Chapter in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home , 3838 East Highway 47, P.O.
