Obituary of Dorothy P. McPheeters

Dorothy McPheeters, 90, of Old Monroe, MO, passed away Tuesday morning, February 4, 2014 at her home. She was born Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1923 in Old Monroe to Andrew and Pearl De Leal Lauritzen. Dot was the youngest of three children. She married the love of her life, Jack McPheeters on July 5, 1941 in Old Monroe. To this union three daughters were born: Joyce, Sharon and Sally. Dot was very active with her girls in school activities and with Town & Country Club of Winfield, MO. She co-authored the history book, "People and Places of Southeast Lincoln County", which she took great pride in. Dot was always very interested in genealogy and a lover of nature, except mice. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Old Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Pearl; her loving husband of 60 years, Jack; one daughter, Joyce; one granddaughter, Polly; her brother, Francois; and numerous other relatives, too many to list. The precious daughters Dot leaves are Sharon Brinkman and her husband, David, of Winfield and Sally Uthe and her husband, Dennis, of Old Monroe; three grandchildren: Andrea Borchert and her husband, Tim, of Winfield, Jack Brinkman and his wife, Dianne, of Old Monroe and Johanna Uthe and her friend, Zachery Johnson, of Winfield; and eight great-grandchildren: Larry, Luke, Andy, Joshua, Eli, Leigh, Lydia and Madison. She also leaves her sister, Genoa Gililland of Wentzville, MO; nieces, nephews and a few friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Kasevich, pastor of St. Paul U.C.C. will officiate with inurnment in Bray Cemetery near Troy, MO.
