Obituary of Mary Frances Byington

Mrs. Mary Frances Byington, 90, of Foley, MO passed away late Friday night, April 19, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Troy, MO. Born March 22, 1923 in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of Aubrey and Alice Maddox Evans, Sr. She was a 1941 graduate of Moneta High School in Virginia. She was united in marriage on March 26, 1944 in Durham, NC to Noel Willard Joplin Sr. This union was blessed with four children: Noel Jr., Sandra, Jean and Peggy. Follwing Noel's death on December, 24, 1965, Mary received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Lindenwood College in 1969. She was united in marriage again on April 24, 1971 in Winfield, MO to Sidney E. Byington. She worked as an elementary school teacher in the Winfield School District for 27 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Foley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Alice Evans, Sr.; two brothers: Aubrey Evans, Jr. and Warren Evans; three sisters: Maria Evans, Mabel Morris and Margaret Carwan; one daughter, Jean Edinger; her first husband of 21 years, Noel Joplin, Sr.; and her second husband of 27 years, Sidney E. Byington on December 11, 1998. Survivors include one son, Noel Joplin, Jr. and his wife, Lois, of Olive Branch, MS; two daughters: Sandra Cremeens and her significant friend, Doug Polster, of Lake Saint Louis, MO, and Peggy Joplin and her significant friend, Bennie Nelson, of Troy; one son-in-law, Robert Edinger of Smithville, MO; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and several great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers: Edward Evans and his wife, Carmen, of Forrest, VA and Marvin Evans and his wife, Marion, also of Forrest; three sisters: Betty Green of Dover, DE, Louise Wilson of Lynchburg, VA and Dorothy Spence of Danville, VA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
