I knew Steve for several years from various SAE meetings and had always wondered what happened to him. I was hoping he quit the rat race and spent his time on music...He's missed by many

This morning, I felt an urge to go through old business cards when I came upon Steve's, which brought forth many fond memories. I felt compelled to look him up, which is when I discovered with great sadness of his passing. Steve and I both graduated from UMR with EE degrees back in 1982. Our paths departed from Rolla, but in the world of aviation, our paths crossed several more times. I found Steve to always be an inspiration with his love of life, of the Lord, and of his fellow man. He will be greatly missed, until our paths cross again in Heaven.

It was late in Steve’s illness when I learned of his debilitating condition and subsequent passing. We were young engineers when we first met on the Boeing 777 development program. Steve was dynamic and energized to make our mutual program a success and often frustrated by the seemingly endless chain of rules and production gates one had to pass through on such a complex program. Over time we grew to admire one another, admiration turned into adoration as Steve and I often spoke on many other subjects beyond aerospace, his input on life, dedication to his family and his faith painted a much broader picture of this man that just his technical skills. A True human, a wonderful man and friend, you will be missed but you still live in this place in my heart that you carved out for yourself. I will see you in heaven, Steve.

Just heard the sad news about Steve. My wife Jane and I were work friends of Steve when we all worked for Smiths Aerospace (now part of GE Aviation).
Steve was so much fun to be with. He was a highly accomplished engineer who had an easy way of working with people that earned him much respect. He was a true gentleman. Socially, he was a joy to be with and his varied interests were the source of many interesting stories.
Both Jane and I feel very sad at Steve's passing but feel privileged that he was part of our lives for a while. He had some very special qualities that are rare and treasured.

Steve was truly one-of-a kind. Steve and I became great friends when we worked together at Sundstrand in Rockford, Illinois back in the late 80’s/early 90’s. We kept in touch over the years including Steve visiting my parents in the UK - Steve was always very thoughtful of my parents which was typical of him.
As I am an ex-pat from the UK, Steve would often quiz me about the Brits and poke fun at some of our quirks. We shared many great moments together centered around family, business (trips to Seattle), hobbies (playing music, going to the gym, motorcycle rides) and much more. Steve had such a big heart and would seem to light up any room. Steve, you will be missed and always in our hearts.

Riding motorcycles, shooting guns, drinking beer, hunting, and designing highly sophisticated aircraft systems. Admittedly an odd combination, but I learned to do all of them better being with Steve. We had some great times in Rockford while we were both at Sundstrand, but the time we spent turkey hunting on the Mississippi River will always be one of my most cherished, if not a littly hazy, memories of Steve. You lived well, my friend, and you will not be forgotten!

I will chersih Steve's memory as a highly respected colleague and as good friend.
Steve I & worked closely together for a time when he first joined GE (then Smiths) and spent a period with us here at Cheltenham getting to know the team and our products. He quickly became expert in the latter and a valued member of the former. Our paths continued to cross regularly over the years.
Steve was always a pleasure to be with whether at work; after hours at one or more local pubs, or while travelling on business.
I send my condolences to Buffy & his girls at this difficult time and share you sense of loss.
Gone maybe, but never to be forgotten! God bless you Steve.

I first met Steve as a highly enthusiastic young engineer with McDonnell Douglas, from where he enabled so many future opportunities for Smiths.
Too many good and fun memories to recall all but working together through days and nights to get the first Apache off the ground on time, is but one. Sampling the atmosphere and ale at all the pubs in the Cotswold as part of the Smiths engineering team was another.
My condolences to all of Steve’s family, friends and coleagues.

Steve has blessed my life more than I could ever put to words. I will always cherish the great times and sweet fellowship we have had together....times that were so great because he was so real and always gave so much of himself to serve others. Most of all I will always remember the joy and passion that was his hallmark. I thank God for the opportunity to have known and worked with him. I'm really going to miss him!
Buffy, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Steve was a colleague at GE Aviation and when we were Smiths Aerospace. He brought so much energy to the project we recently worked with US and UK input. Steve made it so easy to forge the bonds between our nations with his love of the UK - he was an honorary 'Brit. My fondest recent memories were of evenings out in Dayton with Steve at pubs and restaurants - music was a common theme.
God bless Steve, I'll miss you.

I have known Steve professionally in the aerospace power industry for 25 years: while he was an airframe power manager for Boeing; being his line manager for a while at Smiths/GE and as a family friend. In all these roles he was the warmest and most supportive person you could ever hope to meet. His personal interests perfectly describe the dynamic nature of the man and his love of life
Steve was a widely respected and gifted aerospace professional who made pioneering contributions in his field and within all branches of the his Industry – as both military and civil communities within the profession would testify
I had the privilege to work with him on some demanding projects in which I particularly relied upon his support, camaraderie and sense of humor to maintain a sense of balance. Challenging times always seemed easy when Steve was alongside
Above all, my wife and I are so sad that Buffy, Stephanie and Lindsey have lost a beloved husband and Dad. We have lost a dear family friend and colleague
God Bless Steve

In associating with Steve for over a decade at what is now GE Aviation, you will not find a better human being than Steve Peecher. Be it being overwhelmed by the mounted oversized turkey in his St. Louis office, or his selection criteria of restaurants in Singapore by their curry offerings, to visiting customers, to 2x unsuccessfully pitching the CEO of Smiths Aerospace on an emerging technology, to even trimming that hair for a potential promotion; Steve was a vibrant joy to be with and a permanent member of my personal Christmas card list. I regret being unable to attend services for him.
As my wife was Steve’s age when we lost her, Billy Joel’s words “only the good die young” rings a poignant but very sad message.

Will always remember Steve's contribution to the Risen! praise band while at Grace United Church of Christ of O'Fallon. What a guitar player and drummer! One prayer request that Steve had each week was "pray for our troops". Now, my prayer is that God's healing grace will bring peace to the family during this difficult time. Stepanie and Lindsey, your dad will be missed.

I worked in the Smiths Office (prior to GE) with Steve for about 5 years. Besides being a thorough and effective engineer, he was a genuinely fine person. As his neighbor Jeff indicates, he always had a warm and genuine greeting to offer.
On a couple of occasions, he brought his two young daughters into the office. They were likely 6 years old at the time. His pride in them was obvious and his patience was exemplary.
Steve always did things first class. When he entered his auto or his motorcycle into a contest, he would likely win a prize. When he took up pistol competition, he went to the pistol maker,s factory on the east coast to compete and did so effectively.
The last time I saw Steve he was trying to train his fingers to be able to position them on the chords of the guitar so he could play all the notes. When he took up a cause, it was all the way.
Steve, a friend who will be remembered fondly.

I met Steve when he moved into the house next door to me. Steve was a great neighbor and a really nice guy. He always seemed to have a warm hello and a positive outlook. Having a rock drummer next door helped to rekindle my interest in playing in bands again, and Steve was very encouraging. My sincerest condolences to Buffy, his girls, and all of his friends and family.
