Obituary of Shirley Ann Wilson

Funeral Services for Shirley Ann Wilson of Columbia, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Elsberry. Rev. Jim Daniels, retired pastor of Corinth Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Wilson, Bryan Wilson, Darrin Hines, Chad Rapp, Wayne Lovelace and Larry Noble. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Wilson, Doc Wilson, Steve Phillips and Adrian McClellon. Ms. Wilson, 74, passed away Monday morning, October 29, 2012 at her home in Columbia. Born July 25, 1938 in Foley, MO, she was the daughter of Delmer Lee and Pauline Elizabeth McClellan Hines. She attended Foley Public School, Elsberry High School and Winfield High School. She then went on to attend Culver Stockton College and Northeast Missouri State University. She was blessed with one son, Wynn. She worked for several years for the Visiting Nurses of Columbia, over 20 years for the public schools in Missouri and was a former Mary Kay consultant. Ms. Wilson then worked for many years as an Academic Teacher for the State of Missouri Department of Corrections, retiring December 31, 2011. She was a member of the Missouri Teachers Association and the Department of Corrections Association. She was also a member of the Cornath Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmer and Pauline Hines; and her former husband, George Wilson on March 12, 2006. Survivors include one son, Wynn G. Wilson of Columbia; and one grandson, Micheal Wynn Wilson. She also leaves two brothers: Jess Hines and his wife, Avis, of Foley, and Dale Hines and his wife, Cathy, of Millstadt, IL; one brother-in-law, Brent "Doc" Wilson and his wife, Kim, of Elsberry, MO; two special cat friends: Lola and Ashley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
