Obituary of Viola Carol Jones
Viola Carol Jones
Funeral Services for Viola Carol Jones of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of Whiteside Holiness Church, Jerry Jones and Randy Jones, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Self, Ronnie Filsinger, Scott Riffle, Samuel Elmore, Caleb Jones and John Mackiewicz.
Mrs. Jones, 73, passed away early Saturday morning, October 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born January 15, 1939 in Pittsfield, IL, she was the daughter of Cecil and Viola Carol Dyer Francis. She was blessed with two children: Linda and Beth. She was united in marriage on July 9, 1960 in Troy, MO to Arzie Edward Jones. This union was blessed with four children: Gerald Edward, Randy Scott, Brenda Sue and Lisa Lynn. She worked for many years as a waitress in Troy, MO and later as a sales clerk in the convenience stores in Elsberry. Mrs. Jones enjoyed embroidery and was an avid dog lover and a history buff. She was the biggest Elvis fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Florence Francis; two brothers: Brainerd Francis and William Dyer; and her beloved husband of nearly 45 years, Arzie Jones on June 26, 2005.
Survivors include four daughters: Linda Carey of Nixa, MO, Beth Rhodes and her husband, Dave, of Herman, MO, Brenda Riffle and her husband, Stephen, Sarcoxie, MO and Lisa Jones of Troy, MO; two sons: Gerald Jones and his wife, Trudy, of Elsberry and Randy Jones and his wife, Mary, of Centennial, CO; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
