Obituary of Sophie McGuire Stonebraker

Sophie McGuire Stonebraker Sophie Darlene McGuire Stonebraker, 86, of Foley, MO, died early Tuesday morning, September 25, 2012 at the home of her daughter in The Colony, TX. Born August 12, 1926 in Hamburg, IL, she was the daughter of Phillip Edward and Cora Lee McGee McGuire. She attended Elsberry schools. She was united in marriage on April 30, 1947 in Foley to John Hickman "Hick" Stonebraker. This union was blessed with three children: Lex Terold, Stephen Craig and Melinda "Mindy." Mrs. Stonebraker graduated from Beauty College in 1966 and ran a business in Foley for a number of years. She was a former Foley Mayor and councilwoman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip McGuire and Cora Groves; one brother, Lee Edward "Pete" McGuire; three half-brothers, Earl Groves, James Hartford Groves and Presley Carson Groves; four half sisters: Ethel Groves, Mary Genevieve Groves, Martha Morris and Helen Marie; one son, Lex Terold Stonebraker, that died at birth; and her beloved husband of 61 years, Hick Stonebraker, who died June 26, 2008. Survivors include one son, Stephen Craig Stonebraker and his wife, Debbie, of Foley; one daughter, Melinda "Mindy" Williams and her husband, Randy, of The Colony, TX; three grandchildren: Cody Stonebraker of Foley, Lauren Petro and her husband, Daniel, of San Antonio, TX and Ashley Ibarolle and her husband, Jerod, of Prosper,TX; and four great-grandchildren: Autumn, Dana, Brea and Daniel IV. She also leaves on sister, Ruby Budd of Elsberry, MO; other relatives and many, many friends. According to her wishes, Mrs. Stonebraker's body was donated to The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
