Obituary of Dick Chilcutt

Dick Chilcutt Funeral Services for Dick Chilcutt of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, church pastor, will officiate with burial in New Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Chilcutt, Joseph Chilcutt, Jake Foss, Jason Linville, Eric Connors, Jason Fallert, Rob Bliss, Aaron Ruckman and Jim Jeans. Mr. Chilcutt, 88, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 18, 2012 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born December 17, 1923 in Rector, AR, he was the son of Robert Bruce and Eva Emmaline Finley Chilcutt. He served his country as a United States Navy Seabee from July 20, 1943 until being honorably discharged on March 9, 1946 as a Machinists Mate 3rd Class. He was united in marriage on May 15, 1946 in Piggott, AR to Melvagene Margaret Dale. This union was blessed with three children: Howard, Gary and June. He worked for many years as a tool and die maker for Carter Carburetor (ACF Industries), retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, farming, horseracing and most of all, his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eva Chilcutt; six brothers: Lewis Chilcutt, Charlie Chilcutt, Robert Chilcutt, Albert Chilcutt, Delbert Chilcutt and Earl Chilcutt, Jr.; and two sisters: Ruby Shaw and Mary Pike. Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Melvagene Chilcutt of Elsberry; two sons: Howard Chilcutt and his wife, June, of Town and Country, MO, and Gary Chilcutt and his wife, Pat, of Dardenne Prairie, MO; one daughter, June Foss and her husband, Steve, of Winston-Salem, NC; eleven grandchildren: Mike Roesslein, Charlene Connors, Jennifer Fallert, Shelly Bliss, Jeff Chilcutt, Joe Chilcutt, Robin Ruckman, Gia Linville, Jayme Chilcutt, Jake Foss and Lindsey Foss; and 17 great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was a much loved "Pop" and "Grandpa" by his family and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
