Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Ralph Waldo Brown Funeral services for Ralph Waldo Brown, of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Donald Brown officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Carl Brune, Bill Halley, Jack Burkemper, Larry Schieffer, Dr. Robert "Bob" Davis and Marc Hill. Mr. Brown, 92, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at his home near Elsberry, MO. Born May 22, 1913 in Elsberry, MO, he was the son of the late John Mays and Lena Price (nee Watts) Brown. He was a 1931 graduate of Paynesville High School in Paynesville, MO. He was united in marriage on November 22, 1941 in Elsberry, MO to Florence Aletha Herring. This union was blessed with five children: Judy, Douglas, Donald, Janice and Jeanette. A lifelong resident of Elsberry, MO, he was employed as a farmer. He was a member of Smith Chapel Methodist Church where he served as superintendent of their sunday school. In his younger years, he was an avid sportsman. He also participated with the ACSC office and was a board member for MFA for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena Brown; one son, Douglas Brown who passed away November 11, 2002; and his beloved wife of 32 years, Florence Brown. Survivors include his one son, Donald Brown and his wife, Gerry, of Decatur, IL; three daughters: Judy Hall and her husband, Donald, of Elsberry, Jeanette Putnam and her husband, Don, of Hamilton, MO, and Janice Jaramillo and her husband, Tony, of Cedar Creek, TX; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to Huntington's Disease or Smith Chapel Methodist Church in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
