Obituary of Dolores Lorraine Diefenbach

Dolores Lorraine Diefenbach Funeral Services for Dolores Lorraine Diefenbach of Foley, MO will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Van Williams, Chaplain for Community Loving Care Hospice, will officiate with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at 2:15 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Diefenbach, John Diefenbach, Nick Poetz, Josh Phelps, Shad Morse and Trevor Moore. Serving as a honorary pallbearer is Harold Wilder. Mrs. Diefenbach, 78, passed away Monday evening, August 27, 2012 at her home near Foley. Born November 8, 1933 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Frank Leo and Dorothy Edna Vossmeyer Holmes, Sr. She graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in St. Louis. She was united in marriage on March 3, 1954 in Bellfontaine Neighbors, MO to John Lee "Jack" Diefenbach. This union was blessed with three children: John, Linda and Robert. Mrs. Diefenbach worked for 15 years at Brown's Smokehouse Meats in Winfield. She had a passion for flower gardening and horseback riding. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Once a month, she got together with her high school friends for their "Old Ladies Day." Mrs. Diefenbach was a Christian by faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dorothy Holmes, Sr.; and her beloved husband, Jack Diefenbach. Survivors include two sons: John Diefenbach and his wife, MaryJo, of Kansas City, MO and Robert Diefenbach and his companion, Carrie Probst, of St. Charles, MO; one daughter, Linda Barnewolt and her husband, Tom, of St. Louis; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves her companion of ten years, Harold Wilder of Winfield and his family; sister-in-law, Joann Swofford of Shalimar, FL; several other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.
