My thoughts are with all of you during this time. Dad's are just way too special, and he had to be a great one. He often bragged on each and everyone of his children and we pretty much knew what each one was up to. He was essentially Dad number 2 for me. He was also the toughest manager I had while at IBM. He once told me that if he was not yelling at you, then you were doing a good job.
I learned much from him, as he was very generous with his wealth of knowledge and wisdom. May you find peace in knowing that your father touched so many lives and made them better for it.

So many wonderful memories. All the love and laughter with family and friends. Uncle Ed always had many encouraging words. He will always stay in my heart. To my cousins, you had the best family ever. Uncle Ed may you rest in peace with your Doris! The last of a generation. Carry On!

What a wonderful man Mr. Sabella was. In the short time that we knew him, he brought us so much knowledge, joy, and laughter. He was such an asset to our Bible Study Group and he will be greatly missed. I feel that God definately blessed my life when he brought Mr. Sabella to our group. Mr. Sabella just couldn't understand why we wouldn't call him "Ed", but to us he was a mentor, a pillar, and was held in high regard. About three weeks ago, he told me that he wouldn't be able to make it to my Christmas party this year, but that he would be sending me a sign. Mr. Sabell, I am holding you to that promise. I love you and will miss you, until I meet you again in heaven. (And when you see my son, Donnie, up there, please give him a hug and tell him I love him:
To Mr. Sabella's family: how blessed you were to have had him for a father. May God grant you precious memories of your dad.

Mr. Sabella will truly be missed and I am glad I was able to see him over the last few years in Elsberry. Growing up in Georgetown Texas, I knew three of his sons, Jack, Dave and Steve and would hang out at their house in the early 1980’s. Mr. Sabella was always nice and the only time I witnessed him even somewhat irritated was during one of Steve’s band practice session in the studio. He flung open the door and stated, “This practice is over!”…we immediately shut down all the instruments and called it an evening.
The family reunion’s in Elsberry were a pleasure to attend and Mr. Sabella was always quick with a story and an offer of grape leaves, even throwing in a lesson on how to make them. To round it out he would put on a slide show of past reunions with pictures of family and friends telling stories involving each one us. I am glad that I was part of it all and would like to send my sympathy’s to the family as well as gratitude for being involved.
All the best,
Carl Crabill
and Family

It's hard to say what Ed was to me!. I never worked for him, for 19yrs we worked together. He was my manager. He was my mentor, my friend, my father, my brother, my teacher.
Anyone that was touched by him, learned and was loved in the special way only he could love!.
I am so sorry for the family's loss. Everyone of you kids, I got to share things with him, from belly dancing to a Monkey!. He was always so proud of all of you!. The world has lost a great person and a great Dad.
But I am blessed to have spent so many years and got to share your Dad with me!.
Be well and safe. May Gods Serenity be with you all.

My Uncle Ed was a really interesting guy. He always showed us a good time will we'd come to visit, when we were young and as the years went by. Uncle Ed had it all together and if not He'd make out like it was! He gave good advice too! We are forever grateful for his entertaining our Mother in the last years.
He was a real creative man too, he gave me advice in painting and gave me his oil paints! Last time I talked with him he casually said, "Well my generation is passing, it's up to you guys to carry on." There's only one Uncle Ed.
To his children, my cousins; as you know, you had a good Dad!
I'll miss him. Goodbye Uncle Ed! Love ya! Linda and Tom

Ed was always one of my most favorite managers at IBM.
He always had a way of getting his point across and if he had something to say, you better listen because most of the time he was absolutely correct.
I used to keep a jar of jelly beans on my desk and Ed would sometimes come in an chat for a while and consume most of the contents of the jar. One day, I found Jelly Belly Jalapeno beans while out shopping and thought this might slow him down a bit. The next day he came in, consumed the entire jar and asked if I had more. After that, he requested me to keep those in the jar all the time.
I always loved the pita bread that Doris made for Ed's sandwiches. I got the recipe but it just didn't taste the same. He immediately told me I needed to proof the dough and he drew me a sketch of the proofing oven like he made for Doris. I made one and it worked great for all kinds of bread.
I will miss Ed. He was a great man and a great friend.
