Obituary of Paul Earley

Paul Earley Funeral services for Ernest Paul Earley of Clarksville, MO, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. M.E. Al Boatman, pastor of the Clarksville Christian Church, will officiate with a 1:00 p.m. graveside service and burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Moore, Scott Mills, Tommy Bowles, Rex Hipes, Donnie Wolfe and Donnie Kinsler; and honorary pallbearers will be Joe Pott, Hubert Welch, Dale Miller, Dennis Reed, Steven Phillips, Pete Cannon, Austin Moore, Tim Leahart, James Moore, Allen Moore, Carson Longtin, Jackson Shotpouch, Glen Shuman, Bill Cox and Dale Sluhan. Mr. Earley, 64, passed away Saturday evening, August 4, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Columbia, MO. Born August 7, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Ernest and Maxine White Earley. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on March 1, 1973. He was united in marriage on November 7, 1983 in Troy, MO to Joy Lou Lilley. He was employed for 27 years by the Missouri Department of Transportation, retiring in 2006. An avid hunter, he was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #349 in Clarkesville, and the VFW in Eolia, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Earley; his step-father, John D. Allan in 2006; his mother, Maxine Allan in 2011; and his sister, Nancy Reider in 2010. Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years, Joy Lou Earley of Clarksville; two sons: Allen Moore of Troy, MO, and Jimmy Moore of Jay, OK; three daughters: Dawn Earley of Quincy, IL, Linda Moore of Jay, OK, Pam Shotpouch and her husband, Jackson, of Jay, OK; thirteen grandchildren (including Shane Earley who was raised in their home), and eleven great-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Burton Lilley of Clarksville; three sisters-in-law: Serena Pratt and her husband, Charlie, of Elsberry, Ruth Ann Lilley of Elsberry, and Peggy Sue Hall of Annada, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
