Obituary of Peggy Jean Turnbull

Peggy Jean Turnbull Funeral services for Peggy Jean Turnbull of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer of New Hope Baptist Church in Elsberry, will officiate with burial in New Hope Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Martin Kirkland, Jeffrey D. Sickmeier, John Hopkins, Jr., Brian Hopkins, Anthony Copher and Steven Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Sheets, Scott Mills, John Hopkins, Sr. and Jeffrey L. Sickmeier. Mrs. Turnbull, 69, passed away early Friday morning, June 29, 2012 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born December 24, 1942 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Nelson Edward and Hazel Dell Brooksher Tannehill. She was a 1962 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on September 20, 1963 in New Hope, MO to Richard Harry "Dick" Turnbull. This union was blessed with one daughter, Melissa. Mrs. Turnbull worked for many years as a nurse's aide at the Elsberry Health Care Center, retiring in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Hazel Tannehill; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Trevy K and Irene B. Turnbull; and her beloved husband of 44 years, Dick Turnbull, who passed away on April 20, 2008. Survivors include her daughter, Melissa "Missy" Sickmeier and her husband, Jeffrey L., of Elsberry; and three grandchildren: Katrina, Jeffrey D. and Marissa. She also leaves two sisters: Hazel Irene Hopkins and her husband, John, of Troy, MO and Phyllis Yancik and her husband, Thomas, of GA; special friends: Shelly Fears, Anthony Copher, Brittany Brown, Steven Brown and Jonathan Fakes; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
