Obituary of Mary Lou Sharpe

Mary Lou Sharpe Funeral services for Mary Lou Sharpe of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Karla Cunningham, pastor of Makin Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Foley, MO. Mrs. Sharpe, 85, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2012 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born April 16, 1927 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Cleveland and Mintie East Duey. She was valedictorian of the 1945 graduating class of Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on December 24, 1948 in Foley to Vincent Leroy Sharpe. This union was blessed with one daughter, Michele. She was employed for 37 years as a teller and bookkeeper at the Winfield Banking Company, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Makin Memorial United Methodist Church in Winfield. Her greatest joys were traveling, rocking in her rocking chair and reminiscing with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Mintie Duey; and her beloved husband of 55 years, Vincent Sharpe, who passed away April 3, 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Michele Pettig and her husband, Jerry, of Troy; one grandson, Russell Sitton of Winfield; one step-grandson, Mark Pettig and his wife, Kellie, of Wright City, MO; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Kyle Sitton, and one step-great-grandchild, Tonia Pettig. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Jun 28, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
