Obituary of Trula Lee Stewart

Trula Lee Stewart Funeral Services for Trula Lee Stewart of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Bob Norvel, pastor of the Annada Christian Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Sara L. Manion, Garry W. Stewart, Lisa Evans, Angie Jett, Roberta Stewart and Kristen Manion. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob and Laverne Wright, Larry and Joyce Wright, Don and Helen Mirick, Bill and Linda Blakey, Craig Hemphill, Grant Hemphill, Wendy Wright, Stan and Jane Hemphill and Todd Collins. Mrs. Stewart, 84, passed away early Saturday morning, June 23, 2012 at her home near Elsberry. Born September 10, 1927 in Pittsfield, IL, she was the daughter of Aaron Grant and Miranda Maye Stout Hemphill, Sr. She was a 1945 graduate of Elsberry High School. She was united in marriage on January 18, 1946 in Elsberry to James Wayne "Jimmy" Stewart. This union was blessed with two sons, James Keith and Garry Lee. She was employed for 20 years at Forrest Keeling Nursery near Elsberry. She later became a Certified Nurses' Assistant and was employed for a number of years at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Annada Christian Church in Annada, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Miranda Hemphill, Sr.; two sisters: Donna Key and Elizabeth Windmiller; two brothers: Gene Hemphill and Aaron Hemphill, Jr.; and her beloved husband of 64 years, Jimmy Stewart, who died January 30, 2010. Survivors include two sons: James Keith Stewart and his fiancé, Lois Harding, of Elsberry, and Garry L. Stewart and his wife, Pam, of Elsberry; two grandchildren: Sara L. Manion of Platte City, MO and her children, Kristen, Emily and Carter, and Garry W. Stewart and his wife, Roberta, of Houston, TX and their son, Noah; three step-grandchildren: Lisa Evans and her husband, John, of Elsberry and their son, Chris, Angie Jett of Troy, MO and her children, Mandy, Brandy and Jessica, and Todd Collins and his wife, Lenae, of O'Fallon, MO and their children, Kayla and Breanna. She also leaves one sister, Lena May Graham of Wright City, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
