Obituary of Charles Bankhead Reeves

Charles Bankhead Reeves Funeral Services for Charles Bankhead Reeves of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home will officiate with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be William Harrell, Charles Harrell, Ricky Mitchell, Jess Simpson, Dennis "Shorty" Watkins and Lindell Riffle. Mr. Reeves, 83, passed away early Monday morning, June 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born April 27, 1929 in Dameron, MO, he was the son of Roll Oscar and Mary Martha Langford Reeves. He served his country in the United States Army from September 12, 1952 until being honorably discharged on September 16, 1954. He was united in marriage on May 22, 1955 in New Hope, MO to Ollie Mary Skirvin. This union was blessed with three children: Allen, Bonny and Darrell. Mr. Reeves worked as a carpenter in commercial construction for many years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Union Local #1875 in Winfield, MO and Elsberry American Legion Post #226. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roll and Mary Reeves; two sons: Allen Reeves in 1990 and Darrell Reeves in 1971; two brothers: Harry Reeves and Bill Reeves; one sister, Mary Lucy Reeves; one granddaughter, Rachael Lynn Harrell in 2011 and his beloved wife of 43 years, Ollie Reeves on January 31, 1999. Survivors include one daughter, Bonny Harrell and her husband, William, of Elsberry and one grandson, Charles Thomas Harrell, also of Elsberry. He also leaves four great-grandchildren: Kathryn Elizabeth Smallman of Elsberry, Emily Oxford, Chloe Oxford and Brody Oxford, all of Haines City, FL; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Cemetery in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
