Obituary of John Richard Weeks

John Richard Weeks Funeral Services for John Richard "Dick" Weeks of St. Peters, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church in St. Charles, MO. Dr. David Sheppard will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. John was born on May 23, 1930 in New Hope, MO to Virgil and Lucy Cathryn (nee Mayes) Weeks. He went to glory on June 3, 2012 at the age of 82 while residing at St. Peters Manor Care Center in St. Peters. John grew up in Elsberry where he attended grade school and high school. He attended Central Methodist College for one year before attending Rubicon Business School in St. Louis, MO. John was united in marriage on January 27, 1951 at Epworth Methodist Church in St. Louis to Bonnie Lee Stone by Rev. Marvin Fortell. John served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an auditor. Following his discharge from Military service, John worked at General Motors for 15 years and American Bakeries for 19 years. He then spent the next 8 years working for Creech Brothers Trucking, retiring in 1998. John was very active member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles, serving as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Lucy Weeks. Survivors include his beloved wife, Bonnie Weeks of St. Peters; four children: Richard Guy Weeks and his wife, Marilee, of Atlanta, GA, Cathy Lee Morris and her husband, Bob, of Belton, MO, Elizabeth Ann Reid and her husband, Roger, of Dupo, IL and Scott Alan Weeks and his wife, Nym, of Bangkok, Thailand; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves one sister, Cathy Moran and her husband, Harold, of St. Louis. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church of St. Charles. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice Care, National Parkinson Foundation or the First Baptist Church of St. Charles in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
