Obituary of Lorene Ruth Harrison

Lorene Ruth Harrison Funeral Services for Lorene Ruth Harrison of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Frank Welch of Bowling Green, MO, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard York, Sean Morris, Scott Harrison, Ryan York, Daniel Harrison and Bruce Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Kathy Welch, Rosetta Calvin, Chris Harrison, Rachel Chambers, Heather Miller and Felicia York. Mrs. Harrison, 85, passed away early Sunday morning, May 13, 2012 at Silex Community Care in Silex, MO. Born March 27, 1927 in Eolia, MO, she was the daughter of Roll Francis and Opal Clara Laird Luckett. She was united in marriage on March 25, 1946 in Bowling Green to Hurshel "Gene" Eugene Harrison, Sr. This union was blessed with five children: Richard Eugene, Hurshel Eugene, Jr., Danny Everett, Rose Mary and Dixie Marie. She was employed as an LPN and later a Charge Nurse for Rosedale Nursing Home in Silex, retiring in 1988 after 25 years. She was a member of Eolia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roll and Opal Luckett; two sisters: Della Marie Luckett and Mary Elizabeth Welch and her husband, Theodore; one brother, Richard Francis Luckett and his wife, Wanda; one grandson, Robert Duane York; one great-grandaughter, Abriel York; and her beloved husband of 59 years, Gene Harrison, Sr. on December 17, 2005. Survivors include three sons: Richard Harrison and his wife, Viola, of New London, MO, Hurshel Harrison, Jr. and Danny Everett and his wife, Loretta, all of Eolia; two daughters: Rose Mary York and her husband, Richard, of Elsberry and Dixie Lasater and her husband, Steve, of Eolia; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren; six great, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her lifelong friend since the first grade, Mildred Hunter of Eolia. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
