Obituary of Hazel Dell Davis

Hazel Dell Davis Funeral Services for Hazel Dell Davis of Wellington, Alabama will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, Missouri. Rev. Paul Garven, pastor of Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Rick Davis, Bryan Davis, Brent Nance, Dickie Whiteside, Billy Ray, Hugh K. Stevenson, Wayne Lovelace, Thomas Davis, Dr. Robert Davis, Matthew Davis and Joe Wayman. Hazel was born December 31st,1924 in Elsberry to Raymond E. and Mary E. Coffman, who are now deceased. She had one brother Harry Allen Coffman who was killed in World War II on Okinawa, September 21, 1945 and is buried in the National Cemetery in Hawaii. She spent most of her life in Elsberry where she attended grade school and high school, graduated in May 1942. She spent time in St.Louis, MO after graduation where she attended business school during the war. She was married to Forrest L. Davis, who was home on leave from the Coast Guard, on September 22, 1945. He was discharged from the Coast Guard in 1946 and they moved back to Elsberry. They were blessed with two children Allen Ray Davis and Karen Ann Davis. Hazel worked for Forrest Keeling Nursery from 1959 until she retired in1985. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Elsberry. She has resided in Alabama for the last several years and has attended several Methodist Churches in the area. Hazel was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Elsberry. She is survived by her two children, her daughter-in-law Lynn Ray Davis, grandson Matthew Allen Davis of Battle Ground, Washington, his wife Amy McConnell Davis, granddaughter Angela Lynn Nance of Jacksonville, Alabama, her husband Brent Nance. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Jonathan Brent Nance, Daniel Ryan Nance, Hunter Allen Miltenberger, Halle Lynn Nance, of Jacksonville, Kyle Matthew Davis, and Nathan Edward Davis of Battle Ground; two brothers-in-law: Thomas F. Davis, and his wife, Rosemary, and Robert W. Davis, and his wife, Shirley; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Elsberry United Methodist Church, The American Cancer Society or the American Legion Auxiliary in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 South 5th Street; Elsberry, Missouri 63343.
