Obituary of Violet Marie Stone

Violet Marie Stone Funeral services for Violet Marie Stone of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry. Rev. Paul Garven, church pastor, will officiate with burial immediately following in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Burger, Mike Foster, Mike Griffin, Glenn Holmes, Nick Sciarratta and Bob Stone. Mrs. Stone, 96, passed away Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012 at Parklane Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wentzville, MO. Born October 14, 1915 in Foley, MO, she was the daughter of James Lewis and Mary Jane McClellin Norton. She was a 1933 graduate of Paynesville High School in Paynesville, MO. She was united in marriage on May 10, 1935 in Paynesville to Herbert David Stone. This union was blessed with one son, John Lewis. Mrs. Stone was a 60 year active member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Norton as well as her beloved husband of 51 years, Herbert Stone (February 8, 1986). Survivors include her son, John Stone and his wife, Rosina, of Lake St. Louis, MO; one sister, Lula Burger of Elsberry; one nephew, Fred Burger, also of Elsberry; two granddaughters: Shawna (Nick) Sciarratta of O'Fallon, MO; Kara (Mike) Griffin of Webster Groves, MO; and one great-grandson, Dominick Sciarratta. She also leaves behind other beloved relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry.
