Obituary of Mabel Patton Ross

Mabel Patton Ross Funeral Services for Mabel Patton Ross of St. Louis, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Burial will be in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews. Mrs. Ross, 94, passed away Tuesday morning, February 28, 2012 at St. Johns Mercy Skilled Nursing Clinic in St. Louis, MO. Born May 13, 1917, in Eolia, MO, she was the daughter of Walter Pollard and Birdie Louis Berry Akers. She was united in marriage on February 7, 1942 in Overland, MO to Willie Elonzoe Ross. She worked for many years as a cost analyst for McDonnell Douglas. She was a member of "Hazelnuts" organization in Hazelwood, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Birdie Akers; two brothers: Benjamin Akers in 1983 and Charles Akers in 2000; three sisters: Elizabeth Hatfield, Frances Watts in 2001 and Dorothy Ussery in 2009; and her beloved husband of 33 years, Willie Ross on November 2, 1975. Survivors include her sister, Faye Presley of Foley, MO; one brother-in-law, Robert Watts; one sister-in-law, Mary Akers; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
