Obituary of Richard Masterson

C. Richard Masterson Funeral services for Clarence "Richard" Masterson of Foley, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull of Winfield will officiate with burial in Corinth Cemetery near Foley. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Boettcher, Budget Boettcher, Roy Callaway, Dave Meadows, Tony Noble and Richie Reimers. Mr. Masterson, 87, passed away Friday evening, December 16, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans' Home in Mexico, MO. Born April 6, 1924 in Foley, he was the son of George Morton and Barbara Holmes Masterson. He was a 1943 graduate of Elsberry High School in Elsberry, MO. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corp from March 1, 1944 until he was honorably discharged November 15, 1945, then served in the Marine Reserves from February 9, 1948 until November 27, 1950. He was united in marriage on April 26, 1947 in Foley to Delores Ida Tayon. This union was blessed with four children: Rick, Ronna, Jim and Rena. A lifelong resident of eastern Lincoln County, he was a commercial fisherman, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Winfield, and the Robert Fisher American Legion Post #410 in Foley. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Barbara Masterson; one sister, Eileen Masterson Galloway; and one brother, Forrest Masterson; and his beloved wife of 36 years, Delores Masterson, who died June 26, 1983. Survivors include two sons: Rick Masterson and his wife, Brenda, of Winfield, and Jim Masterson and his wife, Marilyn, of Foley, MO; two daughters: Ronna Watts and her husband, Gary, of St. Peters, MO, and Rena Collins and her husband, Buddy, of Elsberry; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
