Obituary of Florenze Julius Crump

Florenze Julius "Jules" Crump Funeral services for Florenze Julius "Jules" Crump of Troy, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes in Elsberry will officiate with military honors provided by the Missouri Honors Program and burial in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis. Mr. Crump, 90, passed away Saturday evening, February 5, 2011 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born June 23, 1920 in Harrisburg, MO, he was the son of Turner L. and Malinda Meyer Crump. He was a 1939 graduate of Ashland High School in Ashland, MO. He served his country in the Pacific Theatre during World War II in the U.S. Army from January 23, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945. He was united in marriage in June, 1946 in Winchester, IL to Pansy Marie "Peggy" Adams. He worked for many years as an auto body mechanic in the St. Louis area, retiring in 1983. He moved to the Foley area in 1983 and lived near the Mississippi River until the Flood of 1993. He then moved to Elsberry where he was a member of the American Legion Post #226, and was a Life-member and Past Commander of VFW Post # 9064 in Elsberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Turner and Malinda Crump; three brothers: Joseph Crump, Elmer Crump and Albert Crump; one sister, Dorothy Bode; and his beloved wife of 30 years, Peggy Crump, who died February 18, 1977. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Marcella (Mrs. Joseph) Crump of St. Peters, MO; three nieces: Connie Perry of Cartersville, GA, Barb Helm and Teresa Roe both of St. Peters; several more nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
