Funeral Services for Stanley Joseph Bernard of Claremore, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Paul Garven, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial at the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Fry, Dave Bernard, Nick Kinion, George Kinion, Darrin Detweiler and Jeremy Ryan. Mr. Bernard, 78, passed away late Thursday evening, May 8, 2008 at the Claremore Veterans Center. Born September 23, 1929 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Frederick Joseph and Dorothy Ann Trendley Bernard. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army from February 6, 1952 until January 19, 1954. He was employed for several years as a cashier at Wal-Mart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Dorothy Bernard; one brother, Harold Bernard; and two sisters: Doris Bernard and Marion Fry. Survivors include one brother, Frederick Bernard and his wife, Mary, of St. Charles, MO; one sister, Bernice Kinion of Elsberry; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
