Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Verne Lee Lacey, Sr. Funeral Services for Verne Lee Lacey, Sr. of Elsberry, MO (formerly of Overland, MO) were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Pillars of Assembly of God Church in Elsberry, MO, officiated with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Pallbearers were Travis King, Stephen King, Timothy King, Eric Lacey, Kimberly Hall, Stacey Brawley, Steven Hall, Tabatha Jones. Mr. Lacey, 76, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born April 18, 1929 in Arthur, IL, he was the son of Clyde and Ruby Opal (nee Gibson) Lacey. He was a 1947 graduate of Arthur, IL High School. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force from October 10, 1950 until he was honorably discharged on October 14, 1954. He was united in marriage on March 16, 1963 to Margaret Mary Burke in St. Louis, MO. He was employed for many years as a field inspector for Boeing Manufacturing until retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle Church in Overland, MO. Besides his parents, Clyde and Ruby Lacey, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Ross Lacey, Morris Lacey and Billy Lacey; one sister, Shirley Lovelady; and his beloved wife of 38 years, Margaret Mary Lacey, who passed away in August 2001. Survivors include three sons: Ronald Williams and his wife, Bonnie, of Creve Coeur, MO, Donald Williams and his wife, Dianna, of O'Fallon, MO, and Verne Lacey, Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Troy, MO; and three daughters: Julie King and her husband, Ronnie, of Elsberry, MO, Elizabeth Magee of St. Peters, MO, and Tammie Bury and her husband, Rick, of Foley, MO. He also leaves one brother, Frank Lacey and his wife, Joanne, of Fort Collins, CO; twenty grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
