Josephine Marie Snyder A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Marie Snyder of St. Louis, MO will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007 in the Chapel at Veronica House at Sarah Community in St. Louis, MO. Fr. Arthur Althoff, pastor at Sarah Community, will officiate. A Committal Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Becker, James Hiatt II, Kevin Walsh, Patrick Patterson, Mark Buescher, James Hiatt III, Michael Hiatt and Kenneth Walsh. Mrs. Snyder, 85, passed away early Friday morning, November 23, 2007 at the home of her daughter near Elsberry, MO. Born January 6, 1922 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Daniel P. and Josephine M. Birmingham Hough. She was a 1940 graduate of Beaumont High School in St. Louis. She was united in marriage on June 19, 1943 at Holy Name Catholic Church in St. Louis to Raymond Thomas Snyder. This union was blessed with two daughters, Mary Jo and Margaret. As her husband was "career Navy", Mrs. Snyder worked for the U.S. Government for many years. She served the last 11 years of her career as a cryptologist for the U.S. Department of Defense, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Snyder made her home for the past five and a half years at Sarah Community in St. Louis. She was a member of the Bells of Sarah (at Sarah Community), and Incarnate Word Associates in St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Josephine Hough; one brother, Daniel Hough; one sister, Margaret Reitz and her husband, Frederick; and her beloved husband of 50 years, Raymond Snyder, who died October 2, 1993. Survivors include two daughters: Mary Jo Nations-Buescher and her husband, Joseph R. Buescher, of Elsberry, and Margaret Autry of Leland, NC; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Catherine Brundis and her husband, Glennon, of Edwardsville, IL; one sister-in-law, Isabelle (Mrs. Daniel) Hough of St. Peters, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:30 pm. Thursday, November 29, 2007 in the Chapel at Veronica House at Sarah Community in St. Louis.
