Carter Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Helen Kathryn Reed Dickerman Funeral services for Helen Kathryn Reed Dickerman of Lexington, MO (formerly of Elsberry, MO), were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2005 at the First Christian Church in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Connie Atchley, pastor of the First Christian Church officiated with a burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Keith Ross, Kevin Ross, Aaron Ross, Stan Pollman, David Quigley and Andy Pollman. Mrs. Dickerman, 97, died Monday morning, October 31, 2005 at her home in Lexington, MO. Born July 14, 1908 in Bogard, MO, she was the daughter of the Leland and Carrie Klenk Reed. She was raised in the Elsberry area where she graduated in 1927 from Elsberry High School. She was a member of Elsberry High School basketball team and played point guard all four years of high school. She attended cosmetology school in 1936 in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage on January 24, 1928 in Crown Point, IL to John Drewer "J.D." Ross. This union was blessed with one son, Norman Dale Ross. Helen and J.D. lived in the Chicago, IL area for several years. She was employed for many years as a beautician. Mrs. Dickerman was married again on June 3, 1940 in Warrenton, MO to Tony Smith Dickerman. After 54 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on June 2, 1994. They lived in the Elsberry and Silex, MO areas during those years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Elsberry, MO and attended the Methodist Church once she moved to Lexington, MO. She was a member of the Christian Women Fellowship at the First Christian Church in Elsberry and a member of the Fox Hunting Club in Lincoln County. She loved to fish, play cards, and shop for antique furniture. She was an avid gardener. She loved growing flowers. She was preceded in death by her father, Leland Reed; her mother and step-father, Carrie and George Ringhausen; one brother, Roland Reed; one grandson, Craig Alan Ross; and her beloved husband of 54 years, Tony Dickerman. Survivors include one son, Norman Ross and his wife, Shirley, of Lexington, MO; one sister, Dean Quigley, of Millwood, MO; two grandsons: Keith Ross and his wife, Dianna, of Hardin, MO and Kevin Ross of Platte City, MO; six great grandchildren: Aaron, Andria and Ashley, children of Keith and Dianna; Toni and Jesse, children of the late Craig Ross; Cassie, daughter of Kevin; three great-great grandchildren: Matthew Bell Ross, son of Aaron, Dewey Alan Ross, son of Toni and Summer Ross, daughter of Jesse; nine nieces and nephews; several other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 12:30 p.m. until time of service November 3, 2005 at the First Christian Church in Elsberry.
