Obituary of Beatrice May Smith

Beatrice May Smith Funeral services for Beatrice May Smith of Jonesburg, MO (formerly of Stockton, MO) were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Bruce Reed of Stockton, MO, officiated the service with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers were the grandsons of Mrs. Beatrice May Smith. Mrs. Smith, 90, died early Monday morning, May 21, 2007 at Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab in Jonesburg, MO. Born October 4, 1916 in Foley, Missouri, she was the daughter of Jeff Davis and Ona May Briscoe Cox. She was united in marriage on April 21, 1936 in Elsberry, MO to Warden Andrew Smith. This union was blessed with four children: Warden, Ona, Dale and Patricia. She was employed for 25 years as an inspector for General Motors in St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Ona Cox; one son, Warden Robert Smith; one granddaughter, Christina Lynn Wood; two grandsons: Robert Andrew LoDatto and John "Jay" Hill; one great-granddaughter, Angela Jolene Reed; one sister, Margie Medvik; one brother, J.D. Cox; and her beloved husband of 29 years, Warden Smith, who died July 26, 1965. Survivors include one son, Dale Smith of California; two daughters: Ona Henderson and her husband, Jim, of Warrenton, MO and Patricia Schuepbach and her husband, Larry, of Fairplay, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Woodrow Cox and his wife, Faye, of Elsberry, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
