Obituary of William Sanford

William Harold "Bill" Sanford, Jr. Visitation for William Harold "Bill" Sanford, Jr. of Hannibal, MO was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Carter Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Troy Mills, IA. Mr. Sanford, 55, died Monday morning, April 23, 2007 at his residence near Hannibal, MO. Born February 12, 1952 in Central City, IA, he was the son of William Harold and Audrey Pearl Schuman Sanford, Sr. He was a 1970 High School graduate in Monticello, IA. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1970 until 1976. He was united in marriage on November 7, 1980 in Troy, MO to Patricia Suzanne Gray Taylor. He was self-employed for many years as a logger. He enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Sanford was preceded in death by his father, William Harold Sanford, Sr.; his step-father, Ben Otten; one brother, Kenny Merill; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester and Betty Gray. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 26 years, Patti Sanford of Hannibal; his mother, Audrey Otten of Oxford Junction, IA; one daughter, Lisa Hubler and her husband, Dean, of Tipton, IA; one step-daughter, Amber Bredenkoetter and her husband, Dan, of Elsberry; two brothers: Jack Otten and his wife, Laura, of Mechanicsville, IA and Tom Otten of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and four sisters: Barbara Twitty of IA, Jeannie Williams of Lisbon, IA, Tammy Clark of Tipton, IA and Jan Grunder and her husband, Brett, of OH. He also leaves six grandchildren: Carlie, Austin and Jenna Hubler and Ryan, Tyler and Nicholas Bredenkoetter; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Cremation was handled by Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Family of William H.
