Obituary of Margaret Blakey Moudy

Margaret "Sis" Blakey Moudy Funeral services for Sarah Margaret "Sis" Blakey Moudy of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Steve Brown, pastor of the Millcreek Baptist Church, and Rev. Allen Calkins, pastor of the Star Hope Baptist Church, officiated with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Rockwell, David Rockwell, Sam Copeland, Richard Green, Harry Akers and Jason Brown. Mrs. Moudy, 86, died Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2007 at her home in Elsberry. Born October 13, 1920 in Apex (Lincoln County), MO, she was the daughter of William Durham and Sophia Gretchen Baumeister Hausgen. She was united in marriage on August 12, 1939 to George Norman Blakey. This union was blessed with one son, William Norman "Bill". She was baptized December 4, 1941 and became a member of the Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. After almost 20 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Blakey on June 3, 1959. Margaret worked as a grocery checker for 35 years, first for the Kroger Store and later the IGA in Elsberry. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Elsberry for many years. Margaret was married again on October 21, 1983 in Camden, AR to Vernon Maurice Moudy. Besides her first husband, Norman Blakey, she was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sophia Hausgen; two brothers: Harry Hausgen and T.B. Hausgen; one sister, Caroline Akers Palmer; and her loving husband of 20 years, Vernon Moudy, who died May 18, 2004. Survivors include her son, William N. "Bill" Blakey and his wife, Linda, of Clarksville, MO; one step-son, Keith Moudy and his wife, Terri, of Innsbrook, MO; one step-daughter, Jean Allen and her husband, Jim, of Elsberry; three grandchildren: Stacey Meers and her husband, Dave of St. Peters, MO, Jaymie Hallemeier and her husband, Paul, of St. Charles, and Jeff Allen and his wife, Nancy, of St. Charles and nine great-grandchildren: Blake, Abbey and Bo Meers, Garrett, Tim and Paige Hallemeier, and Joel, Jason and Megan Allen. She also leaves one niece, Phyllis Rockwell and her husband, Bill; one nephew, Harry Akers; several other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
