Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Melvin Michael Berardino, Jr. Graveside services for Melvin Michael Berardino, Jr., of Foley, MO were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Jason Gladney of Elsberry, MO officiated the service. Pallbearers were Jason Gladney, Donnie Eggering, Tony Berardino, Mike Berardino, John Berardino and Dave Martin. Honorary pallbearer was Donald "Doc" Hays. Mr. Berardino, 63, died Wednesday evening, January 3, 2007 at his residence near Foley, MO. Born October 24, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Melvin Michael, Sr. and Eleanor Black Berardino. He served his country in the United States Navy from December 30, 1960 until being honorably discharged October 23, 1964. He was united in marriage on August 2, 1996 to Patricia Ann Huellewing Orf. He was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in October 2005 from Midwest Trenching and Excavating, Inc. He was a member of the Pro Carp Association and Local #513 in St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin, Sr. and Eleanor Berardino; one son, Melvin Michael Berardino, III, who died in July 1993; one daughter, Dawn Berardino, who died in September 2000; and his beloved wife of 6 years, Patricia Berardino, who died July 23, 2002. Survivors include two daughters: Robin Gladney and her husband, Jason, of Elsberry, MO and Samantha Eggering and her husband, Donnie, of Foley, MO; five step-children: Stacia, Katie, John, Michael and Andrew Orf; and seven grandchildren: Mia, Forrest, Eli, Naomi and Eva Gladney and Drake and Kennedy Eggering. He also leaves three brothers: John Berardino and his wife, Susan, of FL, Mike Berardino and his wife, Bonnie, of St. Ann, MO and Tony Berardino and his wife, Lisa, of Elsberry, MO; two sisters: Roseanne Mueller and her husband, Dan, of Troy, MO and Jean Bradley and her husband, Wayne, of St. Louis, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
