Obituary of Betty Ann Fisher

Betty Ann Fisher Funeral services for Ann Elizabeth "Betty" Fisher of Troy, MO, formerly of Winfield, MO, were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. David Stewart, pastor of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Troy, officiated with burial in Asbury Cemetery near Winfield, MO. Serving as pallbearers were John Wortmann, Tony Wortmann, Jarrod Wortmann, Mike Walton, Brandon Fogarty and Scott Childs. Mrs. Fisher, 88, died Saturday evening, August 5, 2006 at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab Center in Troy. Born July 13, 1918 in Calloway County near Carrington, MO, she was the daughter of George Dudley and Laura Frances McNean Freeman. She was united in marriage on May 5, 1936 in Union, MO to Hiram August Fisher. This union was blessed with two children, Donald Eugene and Beverly Ellen. Mrs. Fisher was employed for 23 years as a seamstress for Angelica Uniform in Winfield. She later worked for eight years as a dietary aid/cook at the Medical Lodge in Troy, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Makin Memorial United Methodist Church in Winfield for many years before she moved to Troy, where she was currently a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Laura Freeman; one brother, Robert Freeman, who died May 10, 1967; and her beloved husband of 39 years, Hiram A. Fisher, who died October 27, 1975. Survivors include one son, Donald E. Fisher of Calico Rock, AR; one daughter, Beverly Ellen Wortmann and her husband, Jim, of Montgomery City, MO; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
