Edward Louis Burkemper A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Louis Burkemper of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Len Reller, Ben Gnade, Charlie Gnade, Robert Forbeck, John Anthony and Bob Jungermann. Mr. Burkemper, 85, died Saturday morning, February 25, 2006 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born October 11, 1920 in Old Monroe, MO, he was the son of the late Henry and Anna Bauer Burkemper. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed for many years as the bookkeeper for the Old Monroe Elevator in Old Monroe, retiring in 1982. He was a member, Past Adjunct and Past Commander of American Legion Post #420 in Old Monroe. Mr. Burkemper was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Burkemper in 1965 and Anna Bauer Burkemper in 1951; one infant sister, Bernadine Burkemper; three brothers: Harry and Walter Burkemper who both died as infants, and Joseph Herman Burkemper who died in 1983. Survivors include a host of cousins, several other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. A Prayer Service and American Legion Service will be held during the visitation at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
