Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Charles Henry McClay Funeral services for Charles Henry McClay, of Winfield, MO were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull officiated with burial in New Salem Baptist Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers were Keith Moore, Kyle Boettcher, Gerald Hackmann, Don Charlton, Ron Schlesinger and Jim Young. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Elston, O'Neil Langston and Devoid Bacon. Mr. McClay, 90, died Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehabilitation in Troy, MO. Born March 8, 1915 in Winfield, he was the son of the late Walter Graham and Florence Grace Cannon McClay. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII from July 5, 1941 until December 7, 1946. He was united in marriage on December 22, 1979 to Beulah Frances Tayon Kelly. He was a member of the Old Monroe and Winfield VFW Post 5517. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Florence McClay; two sisters: Mabel Portwood and Grace Waltz; and one brother who died as an infant. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 26 years, Beulah McClay of Winfield; one brother, Walter David McClay of Troy, MO; two sisters: Edna Young of St. Louis, MO and Lucy Jackson of St. Charles, MO; two step-daughters: Linda Boettcher and her husband, Jim, of Foley, MO and Barbara Wilder and her husband, Mike, of Winfield, MO; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
