Powell Funeral services for William "Bill" John Powell of Foley, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2005 at Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry, MO. Rev. Raymond Doussard will officiate a burial in Star Hope Baptist Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers are Eric Powell, Adam Powell, Daniel Sutherland, Frank Kutfy, Mark Blech and Tommy Cabrera. Honorary pallbearers are Ciara Blech and Melissa Powell. Mr. Powell, 63, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 in Tucson, Arizona. Born August 7, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Tarlton and Janet Sims Powell. He was self-employed in the restaurant business for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tarlton and Janet Powell; one son, John "Wayne" Powell; and one great-granddaughter, Kaliegh Sutherland. Survivors include one daughter, Robin Sutherland and her companion, Mark Blech of Foley, MO; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Powell of Foley, MO; one brother, Tarlton Powell and his wife, Evelyn, of Bonneville, MO.; eight grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2005 at Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
