Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Dolly Leora Retherford Funeral services for Dolly Leora Retherford of Wentzville, MO, formerly of Foley, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. David Stewart, pastor of the St. Stephen United Methodist Church, officiated with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Randall, Steve Hamilton, Robert Retherford, Jeff Norton, Steven Hamilton, Brian Hawkins and Steve Stroup. Mrs. Retherford, 90, died Tuesday, July 05, 2005 at her home in Wentzville, MO. Born October 24, 1914 in Foley, MO, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Paul and Fannie Catherine Blackmore Gebauer. She was a 1933 graduate of Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on April 24, 1938 in Foley, MO to Clyde Albert Retherford. She was employed for several years as a seamstress at Angelica Uniform Manufacturing in Winfield, MO. She was a talented seamstress and loved arts and crafts. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and cake decorating. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed the artistry of its presentation. According to her family, she made the BEST homemade donuts. Besides her parents, Joseph and Fannie Gebauer, she was preceded in death by one sister, Josephine Brooksher in 1991; one son, Dennis Retherford in 2001; and her beloved husband of 22 years, Clyde Retherford on October 5, 1960. Survivors include one son, Dick D. Retherford and his wife, Patricia, of Wright City, MO; one step-daughter, Doris Bleau and her husband, Tom, of O'Fallon, IL; five grandchildren: Sherry Randall and her husband, Tim, of Troy, MO, Simone Hamilton and her husband, Steve, of Troy, Barbara Wondergem and her husband, James, of Fresno, CA, Paula Stroup and her husband, Steven, of St. Louis, MO, and Tracy Hawkins and her husband, Brian, of O'Fallon, MO; nine great-grandchildren; and six great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
