Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Dorothy Alvina McQueen Funeral services for Dorothy Alvina McQueen of Rolla, MO, formerly of Foley, MO, were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at the Foley Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Hughs, pastor of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and Rev. Richard Turnbull of Foley, officiated with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Casper Werdehausen, Jr., Carl Werdehausen, Mike Collier, Harold Strain, Larry Briscoe, Joseph Osborne, Marc Hill and Lloyd "Sonny" Powelson, Jr. Mrs. McQueen, 83, died Saturday morning, July 2, 2005 at her home in the Doolittle community near Rolla, MO. Born September 30, 1921 in Dameron (near Elsberry), MO, she was the daughter of the late Edward Alfred and Clyde June Presley Hill. She was united in marriage in April 1940 in Foley, MO to George Dallas Brimm. Mr. Brimm passed away in January 1949. She was married again on May 23, 1951 in Rock Hill, MO to Carl Taylor McQueen. She was employed for many years as a seamstress at Angelica Uniform Manufacturing in Winfield, MO, retiring in 1970. Having lived most of their lives in Lincoln County, MO, Mr. and Mrs. McQueen moved to the community of Doolittle (near Rolla), MO in July 1993 to be near their daughter. Although she was a member of the Foley Baptist Church for many years, she was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Doolittle, MO for the past ten years. Besides her parents, Edward and Clyde Hill, and her first husband, George Brimm, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Powelson; two brothers: Delmar Dale Hill and Marion Estel Hill; and her beloved husband of 42 years, Carl McQueen, who died November 4, 1993. Survivors include her daughter, Ruby Werdehausen and her husband, Casper, of Rolla, MO; three grandchildren: Casper Werdehausen, Jr. and his wife, Shirley, Carl Werdehausen and his wife, Jessica, and Robyn Collier and her husband, Mike; and two great-grandchildren: Taylor and Christian Werdehausen. She also leaves one brother, Henry Edward "Pokey" Hill and his wife, Grace, of Elsberry, MO; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Powelson, Sr. of Elsberry; two sister-in-laws, Ruby Hill of Foley, MO and Lenora Stull of Troy, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Doolittle, MO; and from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at the Foley Baptist Church in Foley, MO. Memorials may be made to the Foley Baptist Church, the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, or the Phelps County Hospice (Rolla, MO) in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
