Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Arzie Edward Jones Funeral services for Arzie Edward Jones of Elsberry, MO was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of the Foley Holiness Church and Rev. Duane Elmore, pastor of the Afton Holiness Church in Afton, OK, officiated with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Riffle, Ronnie Filsinger, Stanton Wheeler, Fr. Tom Miller, Caleb Jones and Scott Riffle; and honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Elmore, Andrew Elmore, Brandon Filsinger, Brian Filsinger and Woody Riffle. Mr. Jones, 71, died Sunday evening, June 26, 2005 at Sunset Healthcare Center in Union, MO. Born July 30, 1933 in Stoddard County near Puxico, MO, he was the son of the late Ira and Verna Nabor Jones. He was united in marriage on July 9, 1960 in Troy, MO to Viola Carol Gilbert. He was employed for a number of years at Boise-Cascade in St. Louis, MO. Besides his parents, Ira and Verna Jones, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul Jones, Kennard Jones and Charles Jones; and two sisters: Margie Conner and Lucille Langford. Survivors include his wife of almost 45 years, Carol Jones of Elsberry; two sons: Gerald Edward Jones and his wife, Trudy, of Elsberry, and Randy Scott Jones and his companion, Mary Spencer, of Denver, CO; one daughter, Lisa Lynn Jones of Troy, MO; one step-daughter, Brenda Sue Riffle and her husband, Stephen, of Whiteside, MO; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers: John Ray Jones and his wife, Ruby, Ira Dale Jones, and Ernest Lee Jones, all of Puxico, MO; three sisters: Beulah Mae Norton and her husband, Porter, of Troy, Patricia Ann Martin and her husband, Gaylan, of Puxico, and Mary Tucker of Atwater, California; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
