Obituary of Ruby Thomas

Ruby Lee Thomas Funeral services for Ruby Lee Thomas of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Connie Atchley, pastor of Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Thomas, John Harper, Melvin Jones, Robert Crenshaw, Gilbert Riffle, and Jerry Wren. Mrs. Thomas, 68, died early Thursday morning, May 19, 2005 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born June 24, 1936 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Robert and Ethel Sullivan Burns. She was united in marriage, May 16, 1954, to Kenneth Ray Thomas, Jr. in Rossville, GA. She was a member of the Elsberry VFW Ladies Auxiliary #9068. Besides her parents, Robert and Ethel Burns, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Delmar Burns, James Burns, Bud Burns and Bob Burns; and three sisters: Joyce Wilder, Betty Lawson, and Thelma Eason. Survivors include her beloved husband of 51 years, Kenneth Thomas, Jr. of Elsberry; five sons: Robert Thomas and his wife, Cynthia, of California, Kenneth Roy Thomas, Sr. and his wife, Kathy, of Elsberry, David Thomas of Elsberry, Curtis Thomas and his wife, Julie, of Elsberry, and Ray Thomas of Elsberry; one daughter, Wynette Harper and her husband, Tom, of Elsberry; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Ted Burns of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
