Obituary of Carl Rader

Funeral services for Carl William James Rader, Jr. of Foley, MO were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull, pastor of the Foley Baptist Church, officiated with cremation to follow at Broder Cremation Services in St. Charles, MO. Mr. Rader, 71, died Tuesday morning, May 17, 2005 at his home in Foley. Born February 17, 1934 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Carl William James and Gertrude Wagner Rader, Sr. He was united in marriage on May 14, 1968 in St. Louis, MO to Barbara Darlene Shanks. He was self- employed in a recycling business, retiring in 2000. Mr. & Mrs. Rader have made their home in Foley for more than 20 years. Besides his parents, Carl and Gertrude Rader, Sr., he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert George Rader, Sr. on December 24, 1978; and one son Carl William James Rader III on October 8, 1981. Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Barbara Darlene Rader of Foley; three sons: Ray Roth and his wife, Sue, of Lee Summit, MO, Greg Roth and his wife, Laura, of Fulton, MO, Ernie Rader and his wife Jackie, of O'Fallon, MO; six daughters: Jo Ann Slusser and her husband, Jim, of Hazelwood, MO, Angela Lee Rader of Troy, MO, Peggy Lee Rader of Beaufort, MO, Deborah Stone of St. Louis, MO, Tina Waddle and her husband, Danny, of West Alton, MO, Cynthia Rader of Warrenton, MO; fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers: Raymond Rader and his wife, Paula, of Tullahoma, TN, Larry Rader and his wife, Carol of Hawk Point, MO, and Terry Rader of Tullahoma, TN; three sisters: Sally Freant of Florissant, MO, Jean Walker and her husband, Buford, of Winfield, and Pauline Harvey and her husband, John, of Florissant; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
