Obituary of Frank Wren

Funeral services for Frank John Wren of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Doug Roam, pastor of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Mel Jones, Ricky Mitchell, Charlie Stratford, Louis Reed, Ed Hobart, and Wayne Armbruster. Mr. Wren, 86, died Wednesday morning, May 4, 2005 at Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born August 19, 1918 in Lilbourn, MO, he was the son of the late John and Melvina Lounis Wren. He was united in marriage on September 27, 1941 in New Madrid, MO to Mary Magalene Smith. Mr. Wren served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from August 12, 1942 until February 1, 1946. He was employed as a roofing contractor for residential construction. Besides his parents, John and Melvina Wren, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary, who passed away April 2, 2001. Survivors include two sons: Franklin Wren of Omaha, NB, and Jerry Wren of Elsberry; one daughter, Shirley Purcell and her husband, Kenneth, of Mission, TX; five grandchildren, several great -grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
