Obituary of Richard Phillips

Richard Jarod Phillips Funeral services for Jarod Phillips of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Michael Lockhart, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Joshua Phillips, Steven Butler, Caleb Spies, Matt Harrison, Chris Clements, Matt Rubendall, Dylan Schlattman and Mike White; and honorary pallbearers, Michael Moore, Michael Moll and Jon Sifuentes. Mr. Phillips, 22, died late Saturday evening, March 12, 2005 at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO, following a single car accident on Highway JJ near Elsberry. Born April 29, 1982 in Hollywood, FL, he was the son of Richard Douglas and Kelly Lynn Whitehead Phillips. He was employed as a construction labor for J. H. Berra Construction in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local #110 in St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Shirley Phillips. Survivors include his parents, Rick and Kelly Phillips of Elsberry; his fianc�, Kaycie Buchanan of Elsberry, and their daughter, Taylor Jane Phillips. He also leaves three brothers: Joseph Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, and Joshua Phillips, all of Elsberry; his paternal grandfather, Roy Phillips of Eucha, OK; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Marcella Whitehead of Elsberry; his paternal great-grandmother, Laura Phillips of Medford, OR; and his maternal great-grandmother, Erma Whitehead, of Troy, MO; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
